What Makes You Smile?
The above photo is my Teddy Bear Colby that my husband bought for me a few years ago in Wisconsin at Senguins Cheese shop. My daughter named him Colby which is so fitting. The puppy is one of Nanook's litter. Her pups are all big now! My daughter's dog is already 42 pounds!
Today is gloomy and I really don't know if the sun is going to break through much. Sometimes it's hard to fight of the blahs and blues with so much gray. I decided to get dressed first thing and take my walk early. Nanook was so excited when she saw me get up this morning her tail was going around in circles. That makes me smile. I gave her a snack after she led me to the kitchen and she was also overjoyed to walk first thing. That goofy girl dog makes me smile. Her fur has come back nice thick and shiny and her tail is all fluffy again. It didn't take her too long to look healthy after her big litter . She bounced back quickly.
OK your turn if you don't mind. On a day like today I would love reading about things that bring smiles to faces. What makes you smile?

The Process to the Prize
Life's an adventure...
for we don't know how
God will direct us
from where we stand now.
We need only to trust Him
to show us the way
and He will reveal it
in love day by day.
- Roy Lessin
It's been a full day with church this morning and a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for friends this afternoon. It was fun watching the video someone made with lots of pictures from when they first met and all through the years of raising children to where they are. They are a very sweet couple , well loved and loving. 50 years wow!
Life surely is an adventure, there are bumps and struggles along the way and things don't always go perfectly but we are all in a process of growing and all the experiences help shape us and even the not so great happenings can have a good outcome. If we have a positive attitude and learn from the successes as well as the failures we can finish strong and well. Onward toward the prize! Have a great week!

Friday with my Furry Friend
I've been so sleepy lately. It's sort of a foggy, groggy feeling but Nanook doesn't seem to care. She just slept on her quilt as I fell back asleep on the couch this morning and slept too late. It's not like me sleeping until or past 10. I'm used to getting up before 7 and staying awake. I love the morning hours but I am pretty sure the prescription I am on is not helping so the doctors office has called in a new one for me to try. Once I did get up and take my walk with Nanook I felt better. She is sleeping again. It's a dog's life for her all the time!
Spring is into full bloom now. It's so wonderful to look out my window and see all the green leafs. Yesterday afternoon I bought a hanging basket with different colors of petunias. It looks so pretty hanging by the lamp post.
I loved the photo of the little boy and his dog on top. So sweet.
Have a great day everyone and enjoy the gift of friendship & continue to be a blessing!
Thank you for stopping by!
Sincerely,
Cheryl & Nanook

Fur Angels
I don't mean to make it sound like my dog is the greatest friend that I have in life. It's just that she is here for me and I for her. I forgot how beloved a pet can be then Nanook came along. I think God sent her to me for this special time because life has had a lot of twists and turns and heartache. She's like an Angel. I used to be cynical about people talking so sweetly about their animals but I've come to know God blessed us with them for a reason. When my Dad was in the nursing home there was a resident dog. Oh how he loved her. She would come visit the rooms sometimes. His face would light up. He missed his Lady Bell.
Nanook and my youngest twin grand daughters.
Dogs don't care how tall, short, thin , heavy you are. They are not interested in eye color, hair color or what "pretty" looks like by the worlds standards. They do not care about skin color or many other things that divide some people. I have heard that dogs cannot even see in color. I'm not sure how science determines that but whether they can or cannot matters not. Dogs understand love and although as in some humans there are not so nice ones out there if you have a good dog they will love so unconditionally and with fierce loyalty. I'm not saying they aren't hopeful for rewards though. Too funny how Nanook begs with her eyes! But don't we all love rewards and don't we all love being loved! Thank God for family , and friends. Nanook is both to me!
And thank God for Angels!

Nanook has a special blog now!
This is my husky dog Nanook. I did not name her nor am I first owner. She came to me almost a year ago and she is approximately 5 years old. People often think she is a boy and the name doesn't help with that but she is my Nanook, my Nookie, my Nookie Cookie , my Cookie. My son and his family were in the process of moving so we said we would watch her for awhile. If it's OK to say I fell in love with a dog I did. It would be awhile before they could take her in and myself and my youngest son became so attached to her we were told we could keep her. At last! Another dog. We had our last dog a sweet and loving Basset Hound for 14 years and the kids grew up with her. Forever it seems I couldn't get my husband talked into letting me have another dog but he saw how she won my heart and Eric's and here she stays. She is full bred husky with papers and all but she also came to us pregnant which we didn't know at first. She was let outside when they thought her heat cycle was over but not so. All her litters have been husky puppies but this one was a large litter of what looked like black labs. They all looked more lab than husky. There were 8 puppies and we fretted some about finding homes for them but we did with my son Justin's help. My daughter has one named Zorro and also my friend Cinna who lives in Michigan. Leo will get to experience a lot of snow. I know I grew up in Michigan but if he is like Nanook he loves snow! So glad that her and her son have Nanook's puppy Leo and my daughter has Zorro. They both have great and loving homes! I get to see pictures of Leo on Cinna's blog and I get to see Zorro in person. Sometimes I babysit him and Nanook enjoys that.
Since I have so many photos of Nanook and we spend so much time together walking & at home I have decided to try something different and dedicate this blog to Nanook !
